Colorado based printer Great Big Color has achieved the G7 Master Printer designation from IDEAlliance for its commitment to consistent and accurate results in the digital print workflow.

The methodology developed by the Print Properties and Colormetrics working group of IDEAlliance defines the colorimetric principles and target values for grey balance and the neutral tone curve.  According to Great Big Color, the G7 specification allows it to achieve proof-to-press and press-to-press colour consistency, as well as repeatability.

Staff at Great Big Color are trained to follow the G7 methodology, meaning they can reliably reproduce colour in industry standard colour spaces such as GRACoL and SWOP.  The company believes this qualification denotes its commitment to using the most modern technology, techniques, process controls and standards.

Tina McLaughlin, Great Big Color President, said: “For years we’ve been creating colour matches for our clients by running many test prints.  Now, however, we can quickly and accurately match colours through a calibration process. We can produce logo colours that look just as true at 50ft on the side of a building as they do on the corporate letterhead.”

Established 12 years ago in Denver, Great Big Color’s portfolio comprises large-scale digitally printed fabric graphics, traditional out-of-home advertising and in-store point-of-purchase installations. The company’s printing services include wallscapes, billboards, taxi tops, vehicle wraps, window graphics, murals, trade show materials and stadium graphics.
