RadiciGroup announces sportswear alliance

RadiciGroup has announced an alliance between its polyester-yarn subsidiary, Noyfil SA, and four other companies for the design and manufacture of performance sportswear. The other partners in the alliance are the Swiss performance-finishes company HeiQ, the Italian fabric manufacturer Pontetorto, and two sportswear manufacturers – Youngone, of Korea, and R’adys, of Switzerland.

The announcement comes ahead of the Ispo trade fair, which opens in Munich, Germany, on Sunday, January 29.

RadiciGroup says the common denominator of these five firms is their commitment to developing and offering sporting-goods products that combine innovation, quality, high performance and sustainability. By merging the skills, know-how and experience of yarn, fabric and finished-goods manufacturers, the partners have created an innovative line of sportswear that boasts not only a small environmental footprint but also the greatest comfort, coolness, breathability, colour fastness and thermoregulation.

A special Noyfil eco-sustainable yarn, r-Starlight, was used to create a new line that the other partners are launching at Ispo (Hall C2, Stand 317). It starts with post-consumer recycled PET bottles, which are then sorted, washed and shredded into chips. The chips are de-polymerised and then polymerised again into a granular form that can be used to produce fibre.

The r-Starlight product line includes a variety of counts, cross-section shapes, lustres and colours, with solution-dyed r-Starlight yarn said to provide an even higher degree of sustainability.
