In an extreme R&D test of Baffin apparel and footwear the Canadian company’s CEO, Paul Hubner, and his three sons will test its products in a trek across the Arctic Circle, this March.
The group, which includes Mr Hubner and his sons Mark, 24, Brent, 21, and Ryan, 16, will set off on the expedition from Qikiqtarjuaq to Pangnirtun, on Baffin Island, from March 12 -25.
Matty Mcnair, National Geographic’s Adventurer of the Year, will be guiding the party on their trek.
However, in this R&D experiment, for the first time ever, the Hubner’s will be outfitted entirely in Baffin – head to toe. Featuring the company’s apparel layering system of base, mid, shell and an outer down layer, the family will have no trouble keeping warm in temperatures of up to -100°C, according to Baffin.
Mr Hubner said: “Baffin is based around the core philosophies of ‘living the brand’ and being ‘polar proven,’ it wouldn’t make much sense to not test our new clothing system under the most extreme conditions.
“Through constant real world testing and technical innovation, we remain focused on being the undisputed leader in outdoor performance footwear and apparel.”
Mr Hubner’s previous expeditions include trekking to the geographic North in 2006 and 2008, the South Pole in 2008 and Baffin Island in 2009, as well as the Everest Base Camp last year, in Nepal.
